Master Of Science In Environmental Management for Agriculture

University of Hertfordshire, United Kingdom

Course Overview

A growing population and expectations for a more sustainable business provide numerous issues for agriculture, not the least of which is meeting the growing demand for food, biofuel, and other products. Food security is crucial and necessitates balancing the environmental impact of agriculture with the effective production of food. Agriculture-related activities and their potential to have both good and negative environmental effects are examined in the MSc Environmental Management for Agriculture course. It describes the use of life cycle assessment, environmental impact assessment, environmental management systems, and environmental auditing to farm situations. The goal of this course is to provide sustainable agriculture management through environmental management. In addition to receiving interdisciplinary training to detect environmental concerns on farms and to design solutions, students will obtain a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter. The specialized core modules have been developed to guarantee comprehension of the topics, balancing the needs of the farm, producer, or grower with the requirements of science. You will get the knowledge necessary for a career in agriculture, research, development, policy, or the consulting sector in relation to environmental management, food supply chain sustainability, agricultural system sustainability, and rural development. The MSc Environmental Management for Agriculture programme is divided into five core courses, three elective modules, a research methodologies module, and a supervised agricultural research project. Both full-time and part-time students will start their studies with a core module in Environmental Systems and Sustainability IEMA, a professional association for those in the environmental and sustainable fields, has recognized this course. Students who successfully complete this course will be eligible for GradIEMA, and they will also receive FREE student membership for the length of the course. Graduate membership provides a variety of perks to support you throughout your career and serves as a springboard for future leaders in sustainability and the environment. After passing the work-based evaluation of competence, you can then "fast track" to Practitioner Membership (PIEMA). Additionally, the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM) has accredited the course, making students who enroll in it eligible for complimentary student membership with that organization. Students will be able to apply for graduate membership when they graduate.
