Course Overview

The University of Hertfordshire offers the ideal pathway for individuals aspiring to become solicitors and excel in the legal profession through its full-time, one-year LLM Legal Practice course. During Semesters A and B, students engage in the study of Stages 1 and 2 of the Legal Practice Course (LPC), aligning with the rigorous standards set by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). In Stage 1, students cover essential topics, including Professional Conduct and Regulation, Wills and Administration of Estates, Solicitors' Accounts, Legal Writing, Legal Drafting, Practical Legal Research, Advocacy, Interviewing, and Advising. Moreover, they explore three core practice areas: business law and practice, litigation (both criminal and civil), and property law and practice. Stage 2 offers a selection of elective modules (three of which can be chosen) that cater to individual interests and career goals. Options include employment law, family law, immigration law, personal injury, private client and estate planning, commercial law, commercial property law, and private acquisitions. This flexibility enables students to tailor their learning experience and specialize in specific legal domains. Semester C concludes with an extended project undertaken during the summer, allowing students to apply their acquired knowledge and skills in a practical setting.
