The Radiotherapy course is designed to prepare students to become therapeutic radiographers eligible for registration. In the management of approximately half of cancer patients, radiotherapy is a crucial tool, utilizing high-energy radiation to destroy cancer cells and provide either a cure or symptom relief. Throughout the program, students develop essential skills related to the planning and accurate delivery of radiotherapy, utilizing specialized technical equipment. As key clinical practitioners, therapeutic radiographers play a vital role in delivering radiotherapy effectively. The curriculum also focuses on cultivating skills necessary for managing the psychological, social, and emotional aspects experienced by patients with cancer, as well as their families and loved ones. Given that most cancer patients undergo a variety of treatment modalities such as surgery, chemotherapy, and hormone therapy, the course provides a holistic perspective on cancer management. Students learn about the entire cancer journey, encompassing diagnosis and considering both short-term and long-term outcomes. Graduates of this program emerge as skilled professionals equipped to contribute significantly to the holistic care of cancer patients through radiotherapy interventions.
