The Creative Writing team, comprising published novelists, poets, and dramatists, will provide you with theoretical understanding and practical skills to express yourself effectively. As a developing writer in your second year, focus on writing for the stage, explore poetry, and delve into prose. In Philosophy, choose from a range of topics, including the nature of art, expression, and representation in literary and visual arts. Engage with influential philosophical texts such as Plato's Republic, written in dialogue form. A unique opportunity arises in the second year with the option to undertake a work placement through the Literature at Work module. Gain practical experience in the literary heritage industry, working in roles like school classroom assistants or with publishing houses. Between your second and final year, choose to study abroad or embark on a work placement for up to a year, enhancing your CV and providing a unique life experience. In your final year, tailor your degree to your interests. In Creative Writing, embark on an individual project focusing on poetry, prose, or script writing. In Philosophy, choose from modules such as feminist philosophy, the nature of language and meaning, and delve into the literary style of Nietzsche.
