Course Overview

Embark on a comprehensive exploration of media and communication with our diverse and dynamic program. In the first year, you'll delve into the global and local aspects of media, exploring associated industries and trying your hand at podcasting, video creation, journalism, film critique, creative writing, or linguistics. Choose four out of six subjects, including Journalism, Film, English Language, Media Studies, Digital Media, and Creative Writing. Building on this foundation in the second year, you'll explore media research, journalism writing and broadcasting, magazine design, video documentary creation, and film production. Additionally, you'll delve into US Cinema, and in Creative Writing and English Language, you'll advance your skills in writing for the stage and exploring communication dynamics. The program offers a valuable work placement or study abroad option between the second and final year, allowing you to gain hands-on experience and enhance your CV. In the final year, you can choose to focus on all four subjects or reduce to three, providing flexibility and customization. Options in media include creating projects for clients, professional web page design, PR campaigns, and examining our interaction with celebrities in a globalized culture. Journalism offers opportunities to report on international stories, gain work experience, or build a portfolio. In film, you can explore television drama, diversity and sexuality in US films, or European crime films. Creative Writing delves into short stories and the nature of reality, while English Language and Linguistics explore language meanings and usage in diverse cultural contexts. This comprehensive program ensures you graduate with a well-rounded skill set, ready for a dynamic career in media and communication.
