Course Overview

Bachelor of Arts in Game Design The future is shaped by computer, video, and mobile games. Currently, over 40 percent of Germans express their passion for these games, with 90 percent engaging in them multiple times per week. Games serve as a source of both entertainment and business, reflecting personal expression and global perspectives. Above all, they offer a great deal of enjoyment. As a game designer, your role involves creating innovative game mechanics and influencing game narratives. Your expertise will be integral to every stage of development, from the initial idea to the technical and creative conceptual design, and ultimately, the design of spaces and characters. At the University of Europe for Applied Sciences (UE), you'll have a unique opportunity to customize your own blend of game design, development, and art. University Details

It was formed in 2017 as the University of Applied Sciences Europe by a merger of the Business and Information Technology School and the Berliner Technische Kunsthochschule. The university was previously owned by the American company Laureate Education and was acquired by Global University Systems in 2018. In October 2020, the university changed its name to University of Europe for Applied Sciences.

Syllabus

In the Game Design programme, your studies will focus on the development and creation of innovative and experimental games. As a student, you’ll receive an overview of the business, culture, and markets surrounding computer games, from AAA to indie games and experimental formats.

 

You’ll have classes in the areas of game design, game art and game programming, as well as their interplay with each other. From the first semester on, you’ll learn how to master the development process in teams on a project basis. To round out the development of your own games and prototypes, you’ll learn about the theoretical aspects of gaming as a medium, receive an overview of the financial perspectives and get insight into the industry at the national and international levels. In interdisciplinary seminars, workshops, and study trips, you’ll expand your horizons.
